Venice to Santa Monica Ride

Another warm fall day. If it weren't for pictures of autumn from other places, I wouldn't even know what the hell autumn was. The crew and I have long since decided that the best way to celebrate our year long pseudo-summer is to head to the beach and ride bikes. We loaded up the trucks and headed for Venice Beach.

I'm often asked why I find the need to be at the beach so much. But with views like this, is any explanation necessary?

Yes sir, it's the beautiful scenery that keeps me coming back for more...

Our pals Manny and Iris came along for the ride. This is the first time they've done a beach cruise with us. Judging by the looks on their faces, I'd say they had a great time.

We ran into this random guy along the way. "Dude, I love your blog! How can a fat guy like me be down with the Follow The Fat Guy crew??" he said. I kid. He didn't really say that, but it would have been a lot cooler if he did..

We peddled onward, heading for the Santa Monica Pier.

About 20 minutes later, we reached our destination. Time for a stroll on the boardwalk. Now that we're here, what to do with all these bikes?

At that exact moment, almost as if he were a fat guardian-angel of sorts, we saw this awesome sight. A fat dude standing next to a bike valet sign. His belly majestically pointing the same way as the arrow, showing us the way to our destination. Dude seriously, fat guys have ALL the answers.

Near the stairway leading up to the boardwalk there is this war memorial called 'Arlington West' paying tribute to our brave fallen service men and women.

A sense of calm envelops this entire side of the beach. Even the ocean seemed to be paying it's respects, as the usually boisterous crashing of waves were quiet and subdued. A sobering sight for sure. May you all rest in piece.

Walking down the boardwalk, seeking sustenance. Cheezburgers. We needs them.

Alas, all good things must come to an end, and this day is no different. Time to pack it in and head on home.

Like those old spaghetti western movies, we rode off into the sunset.

Til next time..
